Lawrence House Museum 15-20 minutes away
From his parlour window,
William D. Lawrence would have watched his bustling shipbuilding yard on the
shore of Cobequid Bay. The largest full-rigged ship built in Canada, the William
D Lawrence, was built and launched here in 1874. A special outdoor exhibit
provides background on the Lawrence family and the shipbuilding heritage of the
area. Indoors, an exhibit features the people of Maitland and the time of
Lawrence in more than 40 photographs, quotations and displays. An interesting
introduction to Nova Scotia”s first Heritage District, Maitland.

Minas view is a very
pretty 9 hole course with some of the most spectacular views in the province.
Every hole offers a great view of the Minas Basin with the shores of Parsborro
and Blomidon in the distance. The course is relatively short with 5 par 3's and
4 par 4's and is easy walking on slightly rolling hills.

Minasville Jam Session in our backyard
Held every lst
and 3rd Friday of the month. Come join in the fun of this local music jam
session. If you play an instrument bring it along and join in with the local
musicians as they play the old time favorites. Sing along or get up and dance
along to the music. There is no admission charge for these jam sessions,
donations are gratefully accepted. A light lunch is served during intermission.

Maitland Launch Days
Launch Day, now in its 20th year,
commemorates the launch of the W.D. Lawrence, the largest wooden ship ever built
in Canada. Villagers will be dressed in their Victorian best, and displays and
demonstrations of traditional shipbuilding skills, crafts and artwork will take
place throughout the village. Highlights include an old-fashioned non-motorized
procession, a re-enactment of the launch, the banishment of the whiskey
peddlers, and a whiskey barrel race. Enjoy a turkey dinner after the day's
activities. Saturday 10am to 6 pm.
