OUR POLICIES


SHANGRI-LA COTTAGES POLICIES

 

CONDITIONS OF RENTAL

 

  1. We require a 25% deposit at the time of booking to guarantee your reservation, and the remainder of the payment is due in person at check-in time. We accept cash, debit, and all major credit cards for the remaining payment.
  2. Check-in is between 3:00 and 6:00 pm; if you require a late check-in, you must notify us in writing at the time of booking. Check-out is at 11:00 am.
  3. Cottages must be left broom-clean and tidy, with dishes done, similar to the condition upon initial rental. Please do not strip the beds before your departure.
  4. Any cottage that requires additional cleaning will be subject to an additional charge of $60.00 per hour.
  5. All cottage interiors are non-smoking, including all tobacco products, cannabis, and vaporizers. Smoking is permitted outside the cottage and a disposal receptacle is provided.
  6. No housekeeping services are included. We will provide fresh towels upon request.
  7. Please do not flush anything other than toilet paper. Do not put grease, oil, bleach, or any other harsh products down the drain. We are on a septic system, and anything other than toilet paper may harm or clog the system, which may lead to an additional charge.
  8. Please do not bring red mud into the cottage. Nothing will remove the Fundy mud from our sheets due to its oxidized iron content. If linens are stained, we must replace them. Special towels are in a basket in the washroom for cleaning off Fundy mud. You will be subject to additional charges for sheets or towels ruined by Fundy mud or other non-removable stains.
  9. Indoor furniture should not be removed or taken outside the cottage.
  10. Outdoor fires are subject to the Government of Nova Scotia Burn Restrictions. Please check https://novascotia.ca/BurnSafe/ before you burn. If allowed, you must burn fires in the fire pit provided and fires are not be left unattended at any time. Firewood is available on the property.
  11. We will charge any additional costs related to damage to the cottage, its contents, missing items, our property, and late check-outs to the payment source used to guarantee the reservation.
  12. We reserve the right to refuse or remove any persons, pets, or both from our premises at any time at our discretion.


CANCELLATION POLICY

 

  1. Guests must give two weeks (14 days) notice of any change or cancellation before the check-in date by emailing Reservations@Shangri-LaCottages.com. We will refund the initial 25% deposit to the payment source used to guarantee the reservation minus a $50.00 administration fee.
  2. If you cancel or change your reservation within two weeks of your check-in date, the payment source used to guarantee the reservation will be charged for the remainder of the balance owed in the original reservation.
  3. If you do not show up for your reservation, the payment source used to guarantee the reservation will be charged for the remainder of the balance owed in the original reservation.
  4. If you must cancel or change your reservation for any reason outside of our control (including but not limited to illness, injury, emergencies, travel restrictions, travel advisories, inclement weather, transportation cancellations, transportation delays, etc.), our cancellation policy still applies.

 

HOT TUB POLICY

 

  1. If for any reason, the hot tub must be drained and refilled due to guest interference, $200.00 will be charged to the payment source used to guarantee the reservation. Any damages made to the hot tub, hot tub cover, and hot tub cover lifter, will be charged to the payment source used to guarantee the reservation at the cost of replacement or repair.
  2. The maximum hot tub occupancy is six (6) individuals. Only registered guests can use the hot tub, and no one else is permitted to use the hot tub.
  3. You must shower with soap and water before and after using the hot tub to ensure cosmetics products, body lotions, and oils do not contaminate the water in the hot tub.
  4. The hot tub is maintained between 98°F and 104°F. If the temperature is above 104°F, do not enter the hot tub and notify us immediately.
  5. Limit your soak to 15 minutes or less and cool off before re-entry.
  6. Children under the age of 10 are not permitted to use the hot tub under any circumstances, and an adult must monitor those between the ages of 10 and 17.
  7. You must replace the hot tub cover and latch it into place after each use. Do not sit, lie, or stand on the hot tub cover.
  8. Do not bring glass in or near the hot tub. Refrain from eating food in or near the hot tub.
  9. Enter and exit the hot tub slowly. Steps and surfaces may be slippery when wet, so use extreme caution when entering and exiting the hot tub.
  10. Do not sit on the edges of the hot tub or the hot tub filter cover.
  11. Do not jump or dive in the hot tub.
  12. Do not use soaps or oils in the hot tub.
  13. Anyone with heart disease, diabetes, high or low blood pressure, or serious illness should consult a doctor before using the hot tub. Elderly persons and pregnant women should consult a doctor before using the hot tub.
  14. Refrain from consuming alcohol, prescription, and recreational drugs when using the hot tub.
  15. Do not use the hot tub during a power outage. You must exit immediately if a power outage occurs while using the hot tub.
  16. Do not use the hot tub during extreme weather conditions (including but not limited to hurricanes, thunderstorms, extremely high winds, etc.).

 

PET POLICY

 

  1. Two pets are permitted per cottage.
  2. You must inform us at the time of booking that you will be traveling with pets.
  3. Our pet fee is $15.00 per night, per pet, plus tax.
  4. Pets must be on a leash at all times.
  5. You are responsible for scooping your pet’s waste and disposing of it appropriately.
  6. Pets must not be left unattended in the cottage.
  7. Pets are not allowed on the furniture or beds in the cottage.
  8. Please keep your pets quiet, so they do not disturb other guests.
  9. You are liable for all injury your pet causes to any person, staff, or animals in and around our property.
  10. You will be charged for all replacement and repair costs if your pet causes any damage to our property, the cottage, or its contents.
  11. All additional charges will be placed on the payment source used to guarantee the reservation.

 

CHANGES AND MODIFICATIONS TO OUR POLICIES

 

We reserve the right to update or change this policy or our services at any time. We will upload any updates or changes to our website with an effective date included at the bottom. By continuing to use our services and our website, you agree to be bound by any updates or modifications.
